Cindy A. Christiansen Shares: The Balancing Act

Yes, sometimes it feels like all my balls are in the air and ready to fall to the ground.  Who hasn’t been there?

Although I love writing, it isn’t my main priority.  My family comes first, and with two autistic boys with additional disorders, my life is busy.  My multiple health issues don’t help either. They’re like trying to juggle bowling balls.  I wish life was as organized as an office supply store, but it’s not.  (You just have to look at my messy desk to see that.) LOL

I try to accept what is, deal with the day-to-day issues, and enjoy each and every day no matter what I’m doing.  I guess that’s pretty much what all my characters do as well.  They have their own goals in mind, but life keeps throwing conflicts at them.

In my third book of A Merchant Street Mystery series, Fortune for Fools, that’s what happens to antique shop owner, Zeke Abberley.  His father walks out on the family and the business.  His brother, Zach, gets married and leaves on a long honeymoon.  His aunt Adele suddenly marries and leaves him to run the shop. And, he bids on an out-of-state antique collection, including a possibly famous painting called The Kiss by F. Hayez, and the painting arrives damaged.  On top of all of this, he can’t seem to be around Lavinia Vega without injuring her.  Is it fear or love?

Risk-taker Zeke Abberley knows how to be bold when it comes to his antique shop on Merchant Street in Salt Lake City, Utah. He successfully bid on a collection of 1800s antiques in Nauvoo, Illinois that may contain a valuable Hayez painting. However, love is another matter. Afraid that all women are users, he’s always injuring his dates, particularly Lavinia Vega, who works at her father’s art gallery.

Studious Lavinia Vega is tired of proving to Zeke that she has no ulterior motives. When Zeke brings her a damaged painting to restore and authenticate, she is eager to help but not get involved. When she uncovers a hidden map behind the painting that leads to valuable buried coins, the game plan changes. Or so Zeke thinks.

Will the mysteries Zeke, Lavinia and her Poodle, Vivete, uncover teach them that fortunes are for fools and love is everlasting?
