So school has started, and I'm reorganizing the priorities like mad. One thing I can always count on though, is finding out about another great e-author who offers wonderful getaways with her books. This weekend I'm spotlighting K. Dawn Byrd. Read on to find out more...
Welcome to The Balanced Writer, K. Dawn. Please tell us about yourself!
I write inspirational romance and romantic suspense. Queen of Hearts, a WWII romantic suspense released in April and was Desert Breeze Publishing's bestselling novel for the month. Killing Time, a contemporary romantic suspense released August 1st, also with Desert Breeze Publishing.
I'm an avid blogger and give away several books per week on my blog at www.kdawnbyrd.blogspot.com, most of which are signed by the authors. I'm also the moderator of the popular facebook group, Christian Fiction Gathering
When not reading or writing, I enjoy spending time with my husband of 14 years, walking our dogs beside a gorgeous lake near our home, and plotting the next story waiting to be told.
There is something about an author and her pets. Tell us about your latest release?
Here's the blurb from the publisher:
Mindy McLaurin, thinks it's the end of the world when she's incarcerated on trumped-up embezzlement charges. While in jail, she investigates the death of an inmate who allegedly died of an overdose. Mindy suspects foul play when her cellmate dies and she learns that both women had ingested the same drug. Mindy trusts no one, including Drew Stone, the handsome counselor she can’t stop thinking about. She faces many challenges, including constant interrogation by the Major and emotional abuse from the other inmates. Upon release, someone is stalking her and framing her for the murder. Can she prove to Counselor Stone that she’s innocent of all charges before she loses him forever?
Dare I ask? What genres do you enjoy?
I love romantic suspense and that's why I write it. Unless there's a lot of romantic tension in romance books, they fall flat for me. That's why I like the added element of suspense...it keeps the page turning.
So what is your writing schedule like?
I work a full-time job Monday-Friday 7:30am to 4:00pm and also work a lot of 12 hour on-call shifts on weekends. I squeeze in writing when and where I can when I'm not working my day job.
Another full time job? I don't know how you do it.
How does your family feel about your writing?
My husband is very supportive and always has been. He even helps with some plotting.
I think that's kinda romantic your husband helps with plotting. How sweet. Tell me, where do you see yourself in five years?
Wherever God chooses to take me. I gave my life and writing up to Him long ago, so whatever happens is his will.
Now, something special about you?
I own two hairless Chinese Crested dogs and am head over heels in love with the little guys!
