Having been unemployed for the last year and a half, Christmas must be lean. Having said that, I crocheted blankets for two of my children (the youngest is 20), sent a cross stitch birth sampler to my son in Hawaii that I made 24 years ago, and plan to crochet a whale for my 25 year old daughter in Indiana (it's what she wants, I need to find the pattern).
Home made gifts are good, they're from the heart.

Like Julie, times are tough for us. We're all getting small gifts for our granddaughter, Violet, to make the holiday really special for her and we're each making something for the rest, based on our talents. My wife is making our daughters awesome purses. Our oldest daughter is putting together "memory boxes" (faux shadow boxes with special things she's collected for/from each member of the family. The middle daughter, the musician, is writing the family a song. Our youngest daughter is making custom cards. Me? I'm doing a job for each one. Computer work, legal paperwork (not an expert but I have a little experience), website design (for my wife's purse business) and anything they need or want.
We have an odd tradition in our family for Christmas day. It's a "non-Christmas" celebration. After many years of trying to do the big holiday dinner and family gathering we just couldn't do it, last year, because of too many conflicts so we ordered out for pizza, made margaritas and converged at home for a little relaxing time together, as a family. It was a complete success. We enjoyed it so much, we're doing it every year! We want to enjoy the day and each other without stress. That's our big gift to each other.
I hope that everyone has a wonderful, stress-free, completely blessed holiday with all the accessories that love can provide. Merry Christmas, one and all.

I give so much this year is special for I've now got three grandchildren to buy for. My son is getting married and he has step children. So of course I have to buy toys for the little ones.
My mom has everything so the best thing to do for her is to buy her a gift certificate to have her hair done or have a day at the spa. She deserves it because she takes care of my invalid father. So she deserves a day of pampering.
My dad he likes movies so I try to always give him a dvd of a movie I know he will like.
My sisters I usually give a family gift and than my nieces and nephew there own gift. My one sister's family are die hard Pittsburgh Steeler's fans and the other sister's family are die hard Patriots fans. So this year I got each family a toaster that puts the embols of there team on there bread.
My baby sister's kids I got Amazon gift cards. For my niece and nephew got Kindle fire's.
My middle sisters children, my nieces I got blankets for them a Edward blanket from Twilight and Tinklebell blanket.

I normally get all my grandkids the same amount of presents but this year my oldest daughter had to take unpaid leave from work to take care of my granddaughter after she had major reconstructive throat surgery. So money is very tight for them. So the rest of us got together and bought lots of presents for her so she would have some toys for Christmas. She is 2 1/2. Unfortunately she lost all of her toys in the May tornado that hit our hometown and my oldest daughter and myself lost our homes and everything else. So we are starting over.

For Christmas this year I had the kids go through their room and needless to say after 7 truckloads the guy at the VFW and I had lunch...No sense having my kids hang on to things they either didn't want, need, fit or just didn't use....besides they thought it was fun and my 3yr old said of the toys she got rid of "they are baby toys, mommy"
