“Summertime. It was a song. It was a season. I wondered if that season would ever live inside of me."
- Benjamin Alire Sáenz, Last Night I Sang to the Monster
Hey Ya'll,
Ugh, August. Am I right? It's hot.
We're still in quarantine. There may not be football *scream*. But wait.
We have to remember to look for the miracles or at least the good
stuff. Right?
- My momma was able to visit the last week of July. She's so sweet. We just relaxed.
- I have a new book release (!).
- Duck Tape saved me from getting stitches when I cut my foot open a few days ago.
- We found a great Mexican restaurant a couple exits down the freeway.
- I found a new cooking video series I love on Facebook by Brenda Gant. She's southern and cool!
- There's still a billion episodes of House Hunters on Hulu.
How about you? How is summer treating you? What wonderful moments have
made your day? Your week? I hope you've been able to get out of the
house a bit, see a few family and friends, and of course, read some good
books!
From the Writing Desk
Wow, what a summer. I sent off another manuscript to Harlequin. The third book in Gentlemen of the Coast
was edited and released on time. What's next? While I wait to hear back
from the editors at HQ, I'm going to finish a short novella I wrote
last year. It's about a poor young woman struggling to support her
family at the close of the Civil War. Set in Georgia, it features a
locally famous mill near my house that was captured by the Yankees.
That's all I'll tell you for now; watch for the book cover reveal next
month!
Also on the schedule is the outline for book #4 in Gentlemen of the
Coast and my next Harlequin project. This summer I was asked to commit
to 3-4 books a year which is dang exciting. I'll miss putting all of my
energy into historicals, but I will finish the current series and turn
to shorter novels with my pirate friends.
