Blueberry Season!

This pie is as good as it looks!
It's finally blueberry season here in Georgia, and I am sooo happy! Our own blueberry plants are young, but we've already gleaned two handfuls. The rest will have to come from our favorite farmer just a couple miles down the road. There are three varieties that grow in our area, but the Climax variety is our favorite. They are absolutely delicious.

9 lbs from our first pick.
Blueberries are a super addition to your diet. Some folks believe they are fat fighters. They're full of antioxidants and bursting with flavor. We love to use them with muffins, pancakes and our favorite--blueberry pie. I also have a delicious recipe for Blueberry Cream Pie that takes just seconds to whip up, and it's great for hot summer afternoons. It can even be used with other berries of your choice!

Blueberry Cream Pie

1 graham cracker crumb pie shell
8 ounces of whip topping
1 cup of fresh blueberries
2 small containers of blueberry yogurt

Gently combine whip topping, blueberries and yogurt in a bowl and spread in the pie shell. Chill for several hours.

Here's to a wonderful beginning to summer. Now head down to your local farmer's market and grab some berries!

I've read Fire and Ash by Anne Patrick and loved it. Just bought Everglades from Barnes and Noble and can't wait to read it. Thanks for sharing the great blueberry recipe and a book. Blessings, BJ

Hey BJ! I'm sure you'll enjoy EVERGLADES. It's one of my favorite reads so far for this year.
