Hey ya'll!

Ever have one of those “breaks” when you’re in a car for hours—and it seems like the majority of your vacation? Whew! Spring break was a whirlwind this past week. Rob and I flew to Utah to see our twin grandsons blessed at church. I flew back into town with my sister, drove to Tennessee to pick up my mom, then drove to Florida to the beach. Good times—just mom and us two girls. It was chilly, but bee-u-ti-ful. A one point, we climbed aboard a schooner (right) visiting from Spain. Super fun. We drove back to Georgia, then Nashville, and finally I am back in the office sulking over my to-do list. But I am happy to be home. The house, of course, is trashed, but that’s the writing life. We can't all live at the beach!

From the Writing Desk

I am still finishing up the last third of Forgotten Women Explorers this month. There’s been some delays, but Atlantic Publishing is so gracious, and I’m lucky to have a super editor. Edits on my next book, the re-release of By Heart and Compass are wrapping up. I was hoping to release it this month, but it will probably be May. I don’t want to send out something to you less than perfect—or my very best at least.

I think you’ll enjoy the new edition of my Goonies-for-grownups romance. Trust me, this hero is a piece of work. Here’s a sneak peak at the first lines:

Lacy Whitman found the heir to the Bertrand legacy on the beach. He was replacing o-rings on a lineup of scuba tanks when she approached him. "I'm looking for Max?"
"So." The long-haired diver didn't bother to stand much less look up.
"I'm Lacey Whitman, and I'm looking for someone named Max who owns the
museum."
"You call that worthless shack a museum?"
Dumbfounded, Lacey couldn't think of a reply.
"What do you want?" He sounded suspicious.
"I'm looking for Max Bertand," she repeated with a flash of impatience. "I’ve come to San Madrid because I have some papers for him."
"Warrant, restraining order, or paternity test?"
